MAGNAFLUX® and MAGNAGLO® materials are used with Magnetic Particle inspection to locate surface and subsurface flaws in ferrous parts.

  • Dry and wet particles, and a number of conditioners are available to suit your needs.
  • Choose from fluorescent or non-fluorescent for UV or daylight inspection.
  • Particle size is controlled to ensure maximum sensitivity.
  • Fluorescent particles are encapsulated to minimize separation of fluorescence from particles.
  • You can also find out which products can meet Compliance Specification.
  • Many Product Sheets and Material Safety Data Sheets are available for a number of products.

  Fluorescent

  • 14A
Most widely used general purpose magnetic particles. Highly sensitive and meets all wet method specifications.
  • 14AM
Prepared bath of 14A and Carrier II (a high flash point petroleum vehicle). Ready to use without measuring and mixing. Assures proper concentration since particles and vehicle are premixed.
  • 14A Aqua-Glo™
Prepared solution of 14A fluorescent particles in a water based medium designed to offer the benefits of water and the convenience of aerosol.
  • 14A Redi-Bath™
Preblended concentration of 14A magnetic particles, water, wetting agent, and corrosion inhibitor.
  • 20B
Preblended dry mix of 14A and WA-2B water conditioner. Easier to add water since particles and conditioner are premixed.
  • MG410
General purpose magnetic particles. Brighter and slightly less sensitive than 14A.
  • 410 Redi-Bath™
Easiest method of water bath preparation. Simply add water to preblended concentrate.

Non-Fluorescent

  • 7C Black
Non-fluorescent black magnetic particles. Provided excellent color contrast on shiny or light colored surfaces.
  • 7HF Black
7C preblended with a high flash point Carrier II in aerosol form.
  • 9C Red
Non-fluorescent red magnetic particles. Similar to 7C, but preferred for good contrast on gray, black or dark surfaces.
  • 9CM Red
9C preblended with a high flash point Carrier II in aerosol form.

Oil Vehicle

  • Carrier II
Formulated for magnetic particle testing; odor-free, low-viscosity, non-fluorescent, safe to use (high flash point).

NOTE: Wetting agents enable easier suspension of magnetic particles and better wetting of parts being inspected so that full coverage is achieved. Corrosion inhibitors retard water’s attack on the magnetic particles and thus extends bath life. They also help prevent corrosion of parts during processing and protect any exposed parts of inspection machinery. They are not designed to provide long-term corrosion protection for parts during storage after testing. When long term protection is required, an oil vehicle or separate anti-corrosion treatment is recommended. Anti-foaming agents suppress the natural tendency of any wetting agent to create foam when agitated.
